Effortless Beach Waves: My Long Hair Care Routine
People are always curious about how I manage to maintain long and healthy hair even in my 40s and how I achieve those beautiful beach waves.
I decided to write a dedicated blog post where I spill all the beans on my hair care routine and the products that work like MAGIC!

The Basics of Beach Waves
The appeal of beach waves lies in their effortless and relaxed appearance. Beach waves offer a balance between casual and stylish that suits various occasions.
While it might seem counterintuitive, achieving beach waves often involves less effort than some other hairstyles.
I personally love this hairstyle because it is relatively low maintenance and doesn’t require precise styling. The intentionally imperfect nature of beach waves means imperfections are part of the look, reducing the need for constant touch-ups. Yay!
My Trusted Hair Waver from Amazon
Who knew that this inexpensive hair tool could create beautiful and defined waves?
I’ve experimented with various options available, and I must say, this specific waver takes the crown. The fact that the waves hold up for several days even without hairspray is a total game-changer. The tourmaline technology helps combat frizz and adds a touch of shine to hair, giving it a polished look. A solid find for sure!
During the summer I air dry my hair naturally and after that, I use this hair waver. I like to divide my hair into sections and begin styling from the lower layers, gradually making my way to the top.
I let it cool completely. Then, I use my fingers to gently refine the waves. And that’s my simple routine! While some might opt for hairspray, I personally prefer to skip that step.
Tips for Long-Lasting Waves
- Avoid Over-Brushing: Refrain from brushing your hair too much, as this can make the waves loosen and lose their structure.
- Silk Pillowcase: When it comes to nighttime routines, sleeping on a silk pillowcase reduces friction and helps preserve the waves. It also prevents unwanted frizz.
- Loose Braid or Bun: Before going to bed, loosely braid your hair or put it in a loose bun. This prevents excessive tangling and maintains the waves’ shape.
- Use a Scrunchie: If you’re going for a bun, opt for a scrunchie instead of a tight elastic to avoid creating creases in your waves.
- Dry Shampoo: In the morning, if your waves need a little pick-me-up, use a dry shampoo at the roots. It refreshes your hair and adds volume.
Exfoliating the scalp is important as it helps remove dead skin cells, product buildup, and promotes healthier hair growth, resulting in a refreshed and revitalized scalp. I use this SCALP MASSAGER which is budget friendly and works wonders.
Hair Products I Use and Love
- Wet-Dry Brush: This brush has been a game changer. It is perfect to use on wet or dry hair to detangle and smooth without causing damage. I use it after I put my conditioner and then brush it through with this brush.
- Shampoo: I like to change the brand of the shampoos that I’m using. My current favorite shampoo is Nutrafol. It leaves my hair smooth and is perfect for long thinning hair.
- Conditioner: I’m really picky when it comes to conditioner. I have very long hair and need a really good product to help me brush my hair with ease. I currently use this one that I love!
- Leave-In Conditioner / Hair Mask: This Leave In Hair Mask has been a GAME CHANGER! I saw a lot of improvement while using it. When using this product you need to skip regular conditioner and just use this instead.
- Dry Shampoo: I have three favorite dry shampoos and rotate between them.
- The first one is a Perfect Hair Spray Dry Shampoo. It is perfect for quick touch-ups when I’m in a hurry.
- The second is powder dry shampoo which I love because it doesn’t make my scalp dry or itchy.
- The third one is budget friendly but works perfectly. It is also great for travel!
- Hair Serum: I recently started using this hair serum for less shedding. I need to use all three bottles and will let you know my results!
- Scalp Massager: Exfoliating the scalp is important as it helps remove dead skin cells, product buildup, and promotes healthier hair growth, resulting in a refreshed and revitalized scalp. I use this SCALP MASSAGER which is budget friendly and works wonders. I use it in the shower while I’m washing my hair.
